Kids Crown Hats are back!

I decided to make a few of last year's 'Crown hats' for the store as they are really cute. I made them in two sizes, as before, but for some reason I got the pattern muddled up and they ended up huge!

But lucky for me, the smallest size fits my head perfectly! A bit of a silly adults hat, but I really like it and have been wearing it today.

I'll be putting the rest of them in the shop in the next couple of days. There are three of the small size (2 red and 1 yellow) which will fit a small-average adults head, and two of the large size (1 red and 1 yellow) which fits larger than average heads!

I've fixed the pattern now, so the children's size Crown hats will also be in the shop very soon.

Now that it's December, it's about time I started thinking about Christmas. Normally I leave everything until the last minute, but this year I've designed some cards a bit earlier.

Here are my first set of cards based on typographic glyphs and symbols. The 'Yuletype' cards are available to buy from the Ann Moore shop.

They are 110cm long, suitable for kids approximately 1 to 4 years. I've made them out of pure new wool – tickle-free of course!

Adult Photojournalist scarves available in the shop

Both versions of the adults Photojournalist scarf are now available in the shop. There's a light grey and a dark grey.

Both scarves are made using the same soft wool I've made the kids ones out of. They're 180cm long which should be enough to wrap them around your neck twice and get the camera dangling at about the right place.

Send me a message to the address on the top right or use the contact form on the shop if you want a slightly longer or shorter one or fancy a slightly different colour combination and I'll see what I can do.

Light grey adults Photojournalist

I've made another version of the full size scarf. It's a lighter grey – a bit more girly. I've used the same wool as for the other ones – 87.5% lambswool and 12.5% cashmere, nice and soft.

I'll be updating the shop tomorrow and putting both adult scarves up.

Little Photojournalist scarves now available

The Little Photojournalist scarves are now available in the online shop. These are for kids and should fit any budding Cartier-Bresson aged 3 to 8 or so. There are two versions: a grey and a cream one. I thought the grey could be for boys and the cream for girls but they'd work quite well the other way around as well.

These are made using some really nice wool – it's 87.5% lambswool and 12.5% cashmere – and they're super-soft.

Photojournalist – now at original size

Okay, I think I've got the camera looking quite good now. It's at original size so it looks like the real deal when it's dangling from your neck – from a distance anyway.

Don't you just hate scratchy scarves? Well, so do I, so I've found this amazingly nice wool I've been making my scarves out of. It's lambswool and cashmere and it's really soft. It comes in a fair amount of colours so I'll see whether I can do some different colour combinations.

Big Photojournalist

I've been trying to make an adult version of the Photojournalist scarf.

It's been quite tricky to get the camera looking right. The wool really shrinks when you wash it and the camera changes shape. I'm going to have to have another go at this one. I think I'll need to make the camera a bit wider and will try to get it to original size.

Being a graphic designer I quite enjoy photography. I remember spending countless hours in the darkroom back in my university days. Do you remember when cameras used to use film? And they'd be big and boxy and you'd carry them around your neck? Well, I've been fiddling with putting a picture of one of those on a scarf so you can feel like Robert Capa while being all warm and cosy!

Here's my first attempt at the camera scarf. I've styled it on the legendary Leica cameras and it's got a strap running all the way around your neck. There's a camera on both sides so you can always be sure you've got the 'right side' showing.

This one's a kiddy size so the camera is only 7cm across. I think I'm going to call this one the Photojournalist.

I've still got to fiddle with a few things and make it a bit longer but overall I think it came out quite nicely.

I've been busying myself making some knitted accessories and I thought it about time I shared these with you. So from now on I'll be posting on my progress and share knitting and craft-related musings here.

It being cold outside, I've been working on this certain scarf for quite a while now, so expect to hear more soon!
